September 11th Commemoration

At Hewlett Elementary, we mark the anniversary of September 11th by coming together as a school community each year on this day. We pay tribute to those who lost their lives, and honor those who risked their lives helping others- the police officers, firefighters, and EMS workers who without concern for their own personal safety, responded to the disaster. .

We were honored to have with us today, Lt. Richard Skellington of Engine Company 305 who was at Ground Zero. Mr. Skellington, whose children went to HES, has been a part of our 9-11 ceremonies for the past ten years.

We take a moment to honor the men and women in uniform who serve our country all over the world keeping us free and safe.
