USDA Extends Free Meals for Kids Through December 31, 2020
All children aged 0-18, regardless of where they attend school, are eligible for one free breakfast and one free lunch meal each day. The free breakfast option is only available at our schools that currently have a breakfast program. This includes Hewlett Elementary School, Woodmere Middle School and Hewlett High School.
Students who are in-person at one of our buildings will be able to choose from the menu each day in the cafeteria. Parents or students participating in Online or Hybrid Instruction may visit Hewlett High School on school days from 11 AM - 1 PM and can choose between two cold sandwiches, one hot lunch, and one kosher option. Daily specials and a la carte menu items are not included in the program.
Each of the schools within the district has a cafeteria that offers nutritional lunches at a low cost. Students may bring their own lunches and buy milk, juice, fruit and a variety of nutritions snacks. George W. Hewlett High School also offers a breakfast a-la-carte program, while Woodmere Middle School now offers a School Breakfast Program open to all students and staff.
Subject to agreed upon conditions, High School students have the option of eating in or out of school. Middle School students are required to eat lunch in school.
Costs for school lunches, which includes entree, vegetable, fruit and milk, are as follows:
Elementary Schools: $2.90
Middle School: $3.00
High School: $3.00
WMS & HHS Breakfast: $1.85
HES Breakfast: $1.85
Applications for free and reduced-price lunches are mailed prior to the beginning of each school year. Please see the social worker at your child's school for an application.
