Water Analysis

Long Term Water Testing Program 

Students in the 7th grade have begun a long term project to monitor the water in the pond and the aquaponic growing system at the OEC.  The classes collects water from the pond and the aquaponic growing system on a monthly basis and does several water tests.  Some of the factors that are analyzed are: pH, temperature, nitrate, ammonia level, nitrite, hardness, alkalinity, and dissolved oxygen.  Over the course of time these water tests will enable us to better understand how water chemistry relates to growth and overall health of aquatic systems.
