Pre-K Visits OEC: Butterflies in Paradise
This is the second year of the annual
Pre-K butterfly release and enviornmental day at the OEC.
The Pre-K students from Franklin Early Childhood Center came to the OEC at WMS to release butterflies and explore and learn about the environment. With the help of WMS students and staff the children explored topics like camouflage, butterfly life cycles, food webs, and pond ecology. In addition, the students got to visit the greenhouse and learn about some of the unique plants that are grown at WMS. They particularly enjoyed the touch sensitive mimosa plants and the venus fly traps. Lastly, the students released the painted lady butterflies that they had been caring for in their classrooms into the bird and butterfly garden in the OEC.
