Corn and Peas in the Courtyard
In the fall the sixth grade science classes used the teaching center in the OEC to discuss the scientific method using field corn and peas. The plants were grown in the greenhouse and then used in a demonstration to spark a discussion on the scientific method. Specifically, the students discussed the influence of salt water and acid on the growth of plants using their knowledge of problems, hypotheses, variables, controls, experimentation, data collection, and other concepts related to the scientific method.
Please enjoy the following pictures showing the teachers and students discussing the scientific method. Many thanks to Mr. McHugh, Ms. DeRafael, and Mrs. Lynch.
