Caffeine Project - Mrs Sinkus
Student Created Caffeine Experiments:
Coffee Anyone!
Students in eighth grade science classes used 3D printed, small seed, multiple chamber test pots to explore the influences that caffeine has on the germination and growth of radish seeds. Student in Mrs. Sinkus class worked in groups to develop their own unique experimental designs to explore this topic. Student used digital scales to measure specific amounts of powdered caffeine. Some groups placed the powdered caffeine directly in the test pot, while others mixed the powder with the soil, while still other groups made solutions of varying strengths. After one week the students examined the results of their investigation, and prepared lab directions for other students to use to conduct their unique experiments. These hands-on, student generated experiments will be used by other students in the greenhouse in the coming months and years.
