Bird-Butterfly Garden
Bird-butterfly gardens establish vital habitat for migratory birds and butterflies. The OEC garden is populated predominately with native species that decrease upkeep costs and serve as a living reminder of wild meadows.
The OEC bird-butterfly garden contains hardscape and plants that are essential for many bird and butterfly species. The garden has been certified my Monarch Watch as a migration zone for Monarch butterflies. Possible teaching topics include but are not limited to; butterfly life cycle, plants as food sources, ornithology and entomology, plants as camouflage, soil horizons, nature poetry and writing, and statistical analysis of plant processes.
