    Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our students and staff. In compliance with the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) regulation titled Lead Testing in School Drinking Water (10 NYCRR Subpart 67-4), we recently performed an updated inventory and sampling of all District water outlets. As you may be aware, these water outlets were previously tested in 2016.

Sampling of potable (water outlets used for cooking or drinking) and non-potable water outlets (water outlets used for cooking or drinking) was performed by our environmental consulting and testing firm, J.C. Broderick.

We are happy to report that out of 351 outlets tested, only 18 outlets revealed concentrations of lead above New York State’s action level of 15 parts per billion. These outlets been removed from service until remediation/repairs are performed and re-testing results document acceptable concentrations of lead.

Detailed information about the District’s lead testing program, including copies of all laboratory results, are posted on the District Website HERE.

As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact Mrs. Kim Parahus, Director of School Facilities and Operations, at 516-792-4805.

    Warm regards,

    Ralph Marino, Jr., Ed.D.

    Superintendent
