Spring 2024

Dear Members of the Hewlett-Woodmere Community,

The vernal equinox will begin at 11:06 PM this evening, marking the beginning of spring! Thanks to leap year, the season of warm, sunny days and blooming flowers officially begins a full day earlier! Happy spring!

The arrival of spring is always the beginning of so much excitement here at Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools! Our District calendar is bursting with upcoming events and celebrations.

This week, our high school students will take the stage for the production of Twelfth Night at the Little Theatre, and next week our student musicians will delight audiences at the All District Jazz Night. When we return from Spring Recess I, the time honored tradition of FECC One World will soon be upon us.

The months of April and May are also home to our District Technology Showcase, spring concerts, honor society induction ceremonies, award nights, and so much more. In addition, the fabulous Bulldogs sports teams have hit the courts and fields of play. Join us to cheer on our student athletes throughout the season by visiting

For those of you with graduates this year, we recently shared all of the 2024 graduation and moving up ceremony information (click HERE to view). Celebrating the accomplishments of our students of all ages as they receive their diplomas is one of the highlights of the year for me.

Although it seems hard to imagine, the summer months will soon be upon us. Once again this year, the District will be hosting six extraordinary summer programs for students. Please click HERE for more information.

As always, the Board of Education and District Administration have been hard at work on the development of the budget for the 2024-2025 school year. All community members are invited to join us for the Public Budget Forum on Tuesday, March 26 at 6:30 PM at the Woodmere Education Center to learn more about the proposed budget.

If you have not been able to join us for any of our previous budget planning sessions, please visit the Budget Section on our District Website by clicking HERE. Much more information about the school budget will be shared with you in the coming weeks. Remember that District residents will have the opportunity to vote on the budget and three Board of Education seats on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Woodmere Education Center from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM.

With so many fantastic events on the horizon, I encourage you to visit our wonderful new District website to stay up to date on the latest information about upcoming school and District activities. We hope you will be able to join us!

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook ( and Instagram ( for frequent photos, highlights, and updates on everything that is happening in Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools.

I wish you and your family a wonderful and inspiring spring!

Warm regards,

Ralph Marino, Jr., Ed.D.
