2010-2011 Season   The Hewlett Theater Company presented Neil Simon's hilarious comedy The Good Doctor to sold out audiences on May 11th-14th. The Good Doctor serves as Neil Simon's tribute to Anton Chekhov, arguably one of the greatest writers in Russian history. Neil Simon hilariously crafts a series of vignettes, based on Chekhov’s short stories and even paints an affectionate portrait of Chekhov himself. Over 50 students were involved in the cast, crew and production staff. The play was directed by Dawn DeMaio, produced by Marty Kilkenny and Mariah Duffy and the set was designed and built by Jenn and Matt Csorba.

Hewlett Theater Company Produces a ‘Night’ to be Remembered

The talented students of the Hewlett High School Theater Company continually astound the community with their ability to produce extraordinarily challenging plays…and this year was no exception.

The Hewlett High School Theater Company presented William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night on February 9th-12th. The classic comedy featuring disguises, pranks and romantic entanglements was performed masterfully by high school students who compellingly inhabited Shakespeare’s famous characters and spoke his classic words.

In choosing another challenging play for the Theater Company (which produces two productions annually), director, Dawn DeMaio, felt “Twelfth Night was a particularly appropriate and creative choice as it is a play the interweaves fast-paced plot lines with compelling characters who experience love, loss and self-discovery, as disguises –both literally and figuratively- are donned and discarded.” High School teachers, Marty Kilkenny and Mariah Duffy, produced the play and Matt and Jenn Csorba were the set designers.

Over 40 students participated in the production. The cast included Noam Skiddell, Rachel Feit, Hannah Jay, Stephen Chacon, Janine Coelho, Robert Raimondi, Matthew Wallach, Ramsha Ansari, Alex Cadorniga, Brittany Schacht, Samantha Gates, Sam Berman, Chelsea Sidrane, Sarah Lamsifer, Jasmine Dietrich, and Andrew Krinick. Student Directing interns were Ryan Egar and Lindsay Fox. The Stage Managers were Sarah Golan and Emily Rebenstock and the prop manger was Jillian Kelly. The lighting and sound technicians were Phil Zolotnitsky, Alex Villalba, and Stephanie Casino. The student producing interns were Rita Redko, Taylor Nortman and Samantha Schechter.

Next up for the Theater Company will be Neil Simon’s The Good Doctor on May 11th-14th. Join us for this hilarious comedy!
