• Theater student, Sofia Barone ‘18, was accepted to the prestigious New York State Summer School of the Arts for Theater this summer. 


    Sofia was selected from competitive state-wide auditions at which she performed one classical and one contemporary monologue to be selected for the program.  Sofia has been a theater student at the high school for the past two years. She was recently seen on stage in the Hewlett Theater Company's production of Eurydice and in the upcoming production of Snow Angel.


    Sofia was one of only 32 students selected from across the state to study theater with professionals in this intensive four -week program. Students will receive training in acting, movement, voice and scene study and will also experience a number of other specific theater disciplines, including stage combat, comedy and improvisation, mask work, and dramatic writing. 


    Also a playwright, Sofia recently received Honorable Mention for her script Becoming the Moon in the National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition which will be performed at our annual Senior One Acts in May.
