Dear Parents and Guardians of WMS and HHS Students,
I hope this letter finds you and your families safe and well.
As you may know, the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) has announced the cancellation of all Regents examinations scheduled for administration in June 2020. This cancellation applies to all courses that would typically culminate in a Regents examination in June, regardless of subject matter. In addition, the New York State Association of World Language Administrators (NYSAWLA) has cancelled the 2020 administration of the FLACS Checkpoint A and B Exams in Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
I am sure that you have many questions and concerns regarding course credit, graduation requirements, honors and diploma designations, and many others. Below please find the Frequently Asked Questions document from the NYSED that may assist in answering specific questions related to your child/children.
As you will see by reviewing the document, their decisions and guidance avoid adversely affecting any student’s academic standing. We agree that assessments should not be the primary focus during this extended school closure and hope that this announcement helps to alleviate students’ concerns about testing.
If you have any questions about this information, or how it relates to your child’s academic status, please feel free to reach out to your child’s school counselor.
Thank you, and be well.
Ralph Marino, Jr., Ed.D.
