    April 1, 2020

    Dear Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools Community,

I hope this letter finds you and your families safe and well.

I understand that there is confusion among our school community regarding both Spring Break and the anticipated date of return to school.

At this time, we are anticipating that Governor Cuomo will adjust his previously stated return date of April 15 to align with President’s Trump’s announcement of maintaining social distancing through April 30.

In addition, the Governor’s recent Executive Order stated that schools are required to forego the upcoming Spring Break. Please know that I am working diligently with the Nassau County superintendents and our government leaders to preserve this much-needed respite.

We will let you know as soon as we receive additional guidance on both of these matters. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work though this rapidly evolving situation.

Wishing you and your families well.

    Kind regards,

    Ralph Marino, Jr., Ed.D.

    Superintendent
