Welcome HHS Families to the 2020-2021 school year! This year certainly promises to be a year unlike any other.
As this school year begins, we invite you to become actively involved in the Hewlett High School Parent Teacher Association. This year it is especially important for our families, teachers and staff to work together. We want to see our students engaged and motivated, our staff have the resources they need and everyone in the building to remain safe and healthy. The 2020-2021 HHS PTA Board is a group of volunteers dedicated to working with you, your students and the staff and administration of HHS to make this happen. We hope that many of you will join us at monthly meetings. PTA meetings are a great source of timely information and include reports by the principal, guidance director, curriculum coordinators, athletic director, PTA committees, student representatives and other relevant speakers. These meetings are also a way for your voice to be heard – when you have thoughts, suggestions or feedback on what’s happening at HHS, we want to hear from you.
Whether our learning is remote, in-person or some combination of those, know that the PTA will be present.
Please join us for our first meeting on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:30 pm. Details will follow regarding whether this meeting will be held at HHS or virtually. A complete list of PTA meeting dates can be found below.
As part of our PTA Membership and Fundraising drive, please join us to make a difference in the education, health and welfare of our children. Membership dues are $10.00/family. Your dues support HHS in so many ways – helping to bring informative speakers to students, providing staff appreciation days, beautifying the grounds of HHS, providing scholarship awards to graduating seniors and much more! **Please note that graduating seniors are NOT eligible for a PTA scholarship award unless their parent/guardian is a paid PTA member.**
Rather than fundraising throughout the year, HHS requests a one-time TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation from families that is used to fund programs to benefit all students. A $25 donation is suggested but any amount you feel comfortable contributing is very much appreciated!
