• People and Plants (Commercially Significant Plant Species)

    Some plant species are vital to the daily lives of people around the world, both in modern times and historically.  Throughout the course of human history botanical items have played a role in trade, food, comfort, medicine, and have become an indispensable part of human advancement. 

    The OEC is dedicated to acquiring, cultivating and teaching about plants that have important connections to people.  Possible teaching topics include but are not limited to; trade, commerce, meditation, cultural identity, farming and agricultural practices, herbal medicine, and bioengineering.
