• Conducting Experiments for Science Fair

    The sixth grade conducted experiments for the science fair in the greenhouse at the OEC.  Students choose their topics related to growth based on discussions and past visits to the greenhouse.  After researching their problems and developing hypotheses the groups of students planted seeds and waited for germination to take place.  After the seeds turned into seedlings the students made their initial measurements and conducted their experiments.  Careful attention was paid to scientific rigor as the students visited the greenhouse at subsequent intervals to collect further data and make observations.  The collected data and observations where used to develop conclusions and create tri-fold board displays that were presented to parents, staff, and other visitors in the gymnasium.
